Product Review: Rise Protein Bar

Posted on | February 1, 2012 | 3 Comments

Rise sent us these complimentary honey and almond protein bars to try. They peaked my interest right away because not only do they have 20 grams of protein, but they have only 3 ingredients! This is wonderful compared to most protein bars that have 10+ ingredients.

When I first took the bar out of the wrapper I was a little put off. The bar is light, even pasty looking. There are little almond flakes throughout the bar.

The flavor of the bar was almond and honey, which are both mild flavors, so I wondered what I would be tasting.  The first flavor I tasted was a light protein taste, not at all overwhelming like some protein bars have. Then I tasted a bit of honey, but I couldn’t really taste the almond. The bar was very mild tasting and subtly sweet, which is nice compared to other protein bars that are covered in chocolate. The other protein bars leave me craving more sweets afterwards. This gluten free protein bar also satisfied my hunger, which other protein bars often don’t because they are so sweet.

The bar was soft and the texture seemed smooth, with just a bit of grit as the texture. I think most of that were the bits of almond.

All in all this bar is a winner. It offers a large amount of protein with a mild and light taste.

It’s good to have something like this in the glove box so we can have a bite or two when hunger strikes and don’t want to stop for yet another salad or plate of steamed vegetables!

I really like Rise Protein bars, my favorite one is the Raspberry Pomegranate. There is something about this one that gives me even more energy than the rest.
