Product Review: Luna Protein Bars
Posted on | February 1, 2012 | No Comments
Luna sent us these protein bars to try. They are available at most grocery stores and retail around $1.39.
These protein bars are made especially for women. They are rich in calcium, iron, vitamin D, and folate. They come in five flavors: mint chocolate chip, cookie dough, chocolate peanut butter, chocolate cherry almond, and chocolate. Yum, I love chocolate, and I love the idea of eating chocolate and not feeling too guilty afterwards.
Each bar has under 200 calories, and 12 grams of protein. I wonder how it tastes!
These gluten free protein bars are covered with semi-sweet chocolate. Inside has a soft filling , and each bar is accurately flavored. The cookie dough bar really tasted like chocolate chip cookie dough. Mint chocolate chip had the perfect combination of chocolate and mint; not too minty, but the perfect hint of it. The bars have a strong protein flavor, though the chocolate did mask it pretty well.
I liked these bars because they reminded me more of a candy bar, than a healthy protein bar. Although these protein bars are supposed to fill you up, I found myself craving more. Even though there is a lot of protein, the sweetness left me wanting to eat more.
Rating: 4 stars
Pros: Great chocolate flavors, 15 g of protein
Cons: Protein flavor, did not fill me up
