Product Review: Jake Bakes Sweet Spiced Caramel Corn

OK, so I really love caramel corn. In fact, my little sister makes the BEST caramel corn I have ever tasted, no joke. So when Jake Bakes sent me their sweet spiced gluten free caramel corn, I knew it had some pretty stiff competition. Each bag contains 5 ounces and sells for $4.95

This isn’t your tradition caramel corn- it features dried cranberries and spices along with the clusters of crunchy popcorn drizzled with- what else?- caramel topping. I liked the sweet and chewy cranberries in combination with the popcorn. The spices remind me of the holidays, especially Thanksgiving. I think it was the combination of the sweet flavor and cinnamon. Lots of cinnamon and whatever other spices that were added. In fact, I just couldn’t get over the added spices because it was so overpowering. The more I ate it, the stronger the spice flavor became.

A bonus: this sweet spiced caramel corn is not only dairy free, but it is dairy free, egg free, peanut free, tree nut free and is made in a dedicated facility. I love that this product is very allergy friendly.

Overall, I wasn’t crazy about this gluten free caramel corn. It is well made with quality ingredients, but the spice flavor was just too overwhelming for me to really enjoy it.

Pros: perfectly crunchy, dried cranberries are tasty

Cons: Too much spice- it masks the other flavors.
