Product Review: Cool Soup by Go Appetit – gluten free portable soup

This is a great idea – a shelf stable, portable soup that is gluten free and travel friendly.
I love the packaging of this Cool Soup by Go Appetit Foods. The cute container is ergonomically friendly with it’s curved shape and oval circumference- perfect for gripping with one hand. This gluten free soup is meant to be chilled when consumed, so keeping a few handy in the refrigerator is the ultimate in convenience. But now for the taste . . .
I sampled two flavors of the Cool Soup, each boasting lost of fruits and veggies- here’s what I thought:
Rich Vegetable Gazpacho: This soup is like a thick and creamy V-8 juice, and unlike any gazpacho I have ever tried. It has a strong cucumber flavor and an onion and sea salt aftertaste. I found the flavor of this soup to be quite strong, although I tend to have sensitive taste buds.
Ingredients: water, cucumber, tomato paste, green bell pepper, onion, olive oil, vinegar, sea salt, natural flavors, garlic, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), vitamin A palmitate.
Mango Spice: This flavor is also thick and creamy with a nice mango flavor with a coconut cream base. However the addition of apple juice and peaches overpowers the mango, in my opinion. The flavor is very mild with very little “spice.” Also, the sweet potato aftertaste was a little strange for me.
Ingredients: water, mango, peaches, coconut cream (with natural stabilizers, xanthan gum, carageenan, and guar gum at <0.5%), sweet potato, apple juice concentrate, mint, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), red pepper.
Overall, I wasn’t crazy about the flavors, although I love the idea of portable gluten free soups.
