Product Review: Michael Season’s Baked Cheese Curls (gluten free)
Posted on | March 18, 2009 | 6 Comments
Cheetos are a favorite at our house when we have cook outs or summer meals on the patio. My children love the cheesy flavor and don’t mind the greasy, orange stained fingers and mouths afterward. However, I do.
Since being diagnosed as a Celiac and, by default, started studying labels and nutrition, I am much more aware of additives and artificial colors, flavors and preservatives that are in the products I buy for my family. I think Michael Season’s Baked Cheese Curls may satisfy my family’s cheese cravings and my preference for more “natural” snacks.
These Baked Cheese Curls are not only gluten free, but they also do not contain preservatives, hydrogenated oils, MSG, or artificial colors or flavors. I love this! But how did they taste? I was curious, because some baked snacks I have tried are less than tasty.
They taste fantastic! These baked gluten free snacks are a light and crunchy with a pleasant cheese flavor that tastes like “real” cheese they are made of. They are like Cheetos, only way better. You still get the finger-licking good experience, but it’s not as thick on your fingers, and your fingers aren’t stained an unnatural neon orange when you are done eating. In fact, my ultra picky 6 year old liked these baked cheese curls better than regular Cheetos. So did I. They offer great natural flavor without the extra additives and fat.
Each serving has 4.5 grams of fat and 130 calories.
Overall, a tasty baked snack option that I would buy for our next family cook out. Summer is just around the corner, and I can’t wait!
Pros: baked, lower fat, great natural cheese flavor, no artificial additives
Cons: I can’t think of any!
Rating: 5 stars

Hope I’m doing this properly. This website is a great idea. Just diagnosed with Celiac’s
Do a lot baking. Am retired and prices of baking mixes make my eyes bug out. Looking for a way to grind my own. Suggestions? Experiences? Currently looking at Tribest Personal Blender 200 series and Shnitzers hand powered grinder. Anyone know anything about this? Probably wouldn’t make more than 2 or 3 cups of flour at a time-if that. Definitely small scale in amount or flour processed at one time and start up expense.
