Warning! This sauce may be produced on lines that process gluten, and I became sick from it. Avoid if you have celiac disease or a gluten sensitivity.
This is another sauce that was provided complimentary from Lizbeth Lane Gourmet Cuisine sauces.
I was hesitant about trying this after trying the lemon piccata sauce. I hoped it had more robust, natural flavor. This roasted red pepper & basil cream simmer sauce looked much better, and smelled quite appetizing. The sauce was colorful with chunks of red peppers, and seasonings.
I prepared the chicken per the instructions on the bottle. I dusted cutlets of chicken with rice flour, and sauteed them. I added the sauce and let it simmer for about five minutes.
I took a bite and loved it. This creamy sauce has a delicious combination of tomato, and red pepper, with a hint of basil. The flavor is more pronounced than the lemon piccata, and not as severe on rice. The sauce itself was on the thin side, but coated the chicken adequately.
This sauce I would have liked to keep on hand and enjoy using regularly for my family meals. Unfortunately, this sauce was not entirely gluten free. A little while after dinner, I started getting a headache and the tell-tale stomachache that what I ate had gluten in it. I was very disappointed. On the bottle it says, “This sauce was produced on equipment which may have produced food items which contain sesame seeds, nuts, egg, seafood, or gluten”. A lesson to me to always read the ingredient label! This definitely deters me from ever purchasing their line of products.
