July Gluten Free Give-Away: 2 Bread of Life Gift Baskets!
Bread of Life Gift Basket, originally uploaded by Gluten Free Food Reviews.
This give-away couldn’t be more perfect!
This amazingly yummy basket reminds me of the housewarming basket my sister Kelly gave our family hours after we moved into our new home. And since moving from Pennsylvania, I already miss the quality hand made Amish products we enjoyed- my girls especially loved the handmade children’s furniture and chocolate and peanut butter whoopie pies. This basket has yummy gluten free baked goods snuggled in an Amish made basket. Perfect!
The Bread of Life dedicated gluten free bakery is located in a 100 year old barn in Missouri. They generously donated TWO gift baskets valued at $50 for my July give-away. They describe the basket as follows:
The Bread of Life gift basket includes one loaf of Country Brown Bread, one loaf of Multi Grain Bread, one bag of Cake Muffin and Brownie Mix, one Snicker Doodle Cookie, one Flax Shortbread Cookie, one Brownie, one Blueberry Muffin and one Chocolate Chip Muffin, tucked into a hand made basket, signed on the bottom by the Amish artisan who created it. The gift basket is valued at $50.00.
Check out the links below for my reviews of their products thus far- i will also feature reviews of their bread and more sweets this month as well. So here is the details:
TWO winners this month will receive this gift basket shipped directly from Bread of Life bakery!

My favorite product is Pamela’s Chocolate Cake Mix and then topped with the crunchy, sugary, chocolate frosting. Reminds me of the cake my mom used to always make when I was a kid!

First off every morning I go into your site to read your reviews and they have been very helpful for me as I try to battle this gluten free life that was brought upon me at the end of last year. And welcome to the West - I live in Colorado Springs myself and if anything I would think that you will really get to enjoy and love the humid free climate that we have out west! There is a bakery in Colorado Springs called Outside the Breadbox and they have really hit the mark with their line of ‘Imagine’ bread products! They have sandwich bread in Teff, Jahlapeno Chedder, Montina, Rice, Cinnamom Raisin, and many others and also hamburger and hot dog buns. This bread is absolutely incredible and heathly - it actually squishes like real bread. I think the name itself says it all - just “Imagine” gluten free bread just like what you grew up with
They have wonderful cookies, crackers, cakes, and brownies as well. I would have to say that their bread is my favorite of all the multitudes of breads I have tried - and then thrown away
All the best and continue on reviewing, I have throughly enjoyed all of them!

I absolutely love baking! (which is a good thing when you are gluten free:) The item I make most are my gluten free breads. My two favs are cornbread (which I have just recently perfected!) and irish soda bread (I put double the amount of raisins the recipe calls for) There is nothing like fresh bread to smell up your kitchen.

I think our family’s favorite gluten free baked items are the Hershey’s Perfectly Chocolate Chocolate Cake (made by the official recipe, but substuting GF flour–DEEEEEEE-YUMMY-LICIOUS!!! For a shortcut, we also like Trader Joe’s Gluten Free Peanut Butter Cookies, which come frozen and you just pop them in the oven—these are fun too, because you can put GF sprinkles on them before you bake them–fun for the kids and grown ups, too!
And of course, cornbread!

My favorite gluten-free baked item are Pamela’s Chocolate Chip Mini Cookies. They taste just like Chips Ahoy and I can eat the whole bag in one sitting if someone doesn’t take them away from me!

I love the brownies. I am a newly retired person and would benefit greatly from the gift basket, due to the price of gluten free foods. Thank youfor the opportunity to apply.

I like the brownies. As a newly retired person, I would be very grateful to win the basket, due to the high price of gluten free foods. Thank you.

My favorite gluten-free treat is El Sembrador - Cheese Bread Rolls (pandebono). I use them for everything - snack, sandwiches…. I always have some made and in the freezer to toast up at a moments notice.

I LOVE the Namaste chocolate cake mix with the Pamela’s vanilla frosting. I think that it’s even BETTER than a gluten-riddled cake!

My Favorite Bread is Kinnikinnick Italian White Tapioca Rice Bread. Taste just like real bread… not like typical crumbly GF bread My Favorite Cookie is Bread of Life Chocolate Chip Cookie. It is the best Choclate Chip Cookie I’ve ever had GF or otherwise! I like Both Pamela’s and Gluten Free Pantry’s Brownies.

I bake a lot, although it’s much harder in the summer (we don’t have air conditioning, and once the house heats up, it doesn’t cool down until night!). My favorite baked good is probably the Sesame Teff bread in Bette Hagman’s “The Gluten Free Gourmet makes Comfort Food.” It is a dark bread with a great flavor–it’s my GF 11-yr-old’s favorite, too. It stays fresh on the counter for several days before getting stale and needing toasting. Great for ham and swiss sandwiches!

We are lucky enough to live only 45 minutes away from a wonderful GF bakery in Oakland, CA. It is called Mariposa Bakery http://www.mariposabaking.com and they make the most wonderful lemon coconut bars (although my four year-old’s fav is the poppyseed muffins). We stock up every couple of weeks~

i usually bake from scratch, so when i am, my favorite so far has been ariana bundy’s molten chocolate cakes from her book “sweet alternative.” from a mix i’ve really been enjoying trader joe’s gluten-free brownies. they’re very simple in their ingredients and the perfect texture, and of course very easy to make! you can always add in extras to the mix, but i’ve enjoyed them plain.

Our favorite is probably the Baked Apple Pancake recipe from “Gluten-Free Coking for Dummies” by Danna Korn and Connie Sarros. We have breakfast for dinner probably once a week, and once I was diagnosed I needed to find a recipe that incorporated apple pancakes (our family’s favorite) for our weekly meal.

My favorite baking item is from The Really Great Food Company- their Banana Bread is FABULOUS. It is very moist and not crumbly. It tastes just like gluten-containing banana bread!

My favorite treat to bake is a Weight Watchers cookier recipe. Really simple, egg whites, powdered sugar, cocoa, dried cranberries and nuts. Makes really fudgy little bites….yum! I don’t know if these are for me (the chocolate lover) or my husband (the gluten free guy).

My favorite GF baked good are my grandmothers lemon bars made with Gluten Free Pantry’s Beth’s All Purpose Flour (this is something learned about from this site and is THE BEST). You honestly cannot tell the difference between mine and the gluten containing version. Yummy!!

I love Kinnikinnick Brown (and White) Sandwich Bread. They are decently healthy, fibrous, and nutritious, but also taste good and toast well.

I love baking and experimenting with new recipes, especially with cookies! I have found that Pamela’s baking mix works best for me as a straight substitution for flour in recipes.
July 11th, 2008 at 1:17 pm
My favorite baked item is the Bread of Life cake, muffin, and brownie mix… It incredibly versatile and whether it chocolate chip cookies, blueberry muffins, or brownies the always turn out great. Even the gluten eating members of my family scarf these treats up
July 11th, 2008 at 7:32 pm
Oh My!! There are so many. Glutenfreemommy’s black bottom cupcakes are right up there! King Arthur’s zesty cornbread recipe subbed with Pamela’s baking mix is also yummy. I also have a pizza crust recipe that I make at least once a week to top lots of different ways…vidalia onions caramelized with cheese is soo good. Thanks for all the reviews that you do. It helps to read them efore buying the products.

I usually bake my own goodies. Lately, I’ve made the brownies from Gluten Free Steve several times(http://glutenfreesteve.wordpress.com/2008/06/05/brownies-great-recipe/). They are great for my GF and GF/CF friends and the recipe makes just the right amount.
I guess my favorite GF products are actually white rice flour from the Asian market (more finely ground than most) and Argo cornstarch. I use a combo of these two as my GF flour. Much less costly and I make 5 lbs at a time. While I don’t tend to buy very many GF products, my support group members do, so I would pass on any prizes to them (perhaps via another drawing … the gift that keeps on giving LOL).

This looks like a great product, have you tried Barkat cookies, vanilla, lemon or chocolate cream wafers, made from potato flour and soy oil! One of the few cookies I can eat premade on a gluten, dairy, egg and soy free diet! They are delicious!

I’ve been GF all my life, so I cannot compare it to “real” cakes, but my favorite ready-made cake is Dr. Schar’s Fantasia cake. This used to be available in the USA through various websites, but sadly it isn’t anymore…

I am so glad that I found this site! Being guten-free and soy-free I am

There’s a cute little bakery in Pittsburgh called “Gluuteny” that makes all kinds of heavenly gluten free baked goods. Their pumpkin tarts, with a moist pumpkin filling, a perfectly crisped shell, and a pretty powdered sugar dusting, are my favorite gluten free baked good (and perhaps baked good period) of all time.

Our favorite GF food is Trader Joe’s Brownie Mix. We also like Trader Joe’s
We are still
pancake mix - we make it in the crock-pot- comes out like a cake. In fact it
was what I made for my daughters Birthday- at her request.
learning and have lots of things we still need to try. I love your site-it was one of the 1st one’s I signed up for. Thanks, Eileen

I love the homemade fat-free french bread that Bette Haggman had in one of her older cookbooks. It is easy, fat-free, and tastes wonderful. The first time that I cooked it, my husband (who by the way is not a celiac), loved the bread. I had to hide it to get a piece for myself. Thanks for you website and I look forward to seeing each of your GF Food Reviews.
