Product Review: Black Horse Raspberry & Marionberry Syrup

Posted on | January 26, 2009 | No Comments

Black Horse has some pretty great products, and these syrups are no exception. The gluten free syrup comes in two flavors- raspberry and marionberry.
( Not sure what a marionberry is? Click HERE for more info. Basically, it is a special type of blackberry grown in Oregon).  The raspberry flavor is taste pure and balanced, while the Marionberry has a richer, more earthy berry flavor.
These syrups are the consistency of maple syrup- the real kind, not like the thicker Mrs. Butterworth’s syrup.  Both flavors are a perfect balance of fruity flavor and sweetness.  One of the best aspects of this syrup is that it has reduced sugar in the recipe. I think this allows the true fruit flavor shine through without the overly sweet taste some flavored syrups have. It is smooth and pure, with no grittiness. It would be perfect for waffles & pancakes, ice cream, crepes, or anything else you can think of.
Ingredients:
Raspberry syrup: cane sugar, raspberry puree, filtered water, lemon juice concentrate.
Marionberry syrup: cane sugar, marionberry puree, filtered water, lemon juice concentrate
